At Westside Medical Centers of Texas, Low-Level Laser Therapy is one of the great treatments that we use to alleviate pain and stimulate healing in our patients. Many people find that they experience immediate results after a short laser therapy session.
How It Works
At Westside Medical Centers of Texas, we use infrared lasers with controlled and adjustable power. Our choice is the patented MLS or “Multi-Wave Locked System” which delivers two specific, synchronized wavelengths of laser light. One laser emission acts on inflammation; the other has an analgesic or pain-relieving effect. Photons of laser energy penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. As a result of exposure to the MLS Laser, the cells of tendons, ligaments, and muscles repair themselves faster. As inflammation is reduced, the pain subsides very quickly.
When the laser penetrates the tissue, this causes a chain of events that lead to the production of adenosine triphosphate, which the cells use for energy. This photochemical reaction results in an increase in the cellular metabolism rate which expedites cell repair and the stimulation of several systems: the immune, lymphatic and vascular.
This stimulation of the cells enhances healing, improve nerve function, increase vascular activity, reduce pain and reduce inflammation. The entire process is relatively quick, taking on average 10 minutes per session.
